Using blogging in your classroom
How might you use blogging in your classroom? What could be some of the benefits of blogging in the secondary classroom? What could be some of the drawbacks? Think about your current curriculum, what are some areas that could integrate iPads to improve student learning?
Social Studies could use this for current event conversations.

ReplyDeleteStudents could comment on others' work or reply to questions posed by students or teachers. I would be concerned possibly with the ability to post without teacher approval.
ReplyDeleteBlogging would be a great tool to use in region meetings when reflecting on new learning throughout the year. I am still learning how to create and post with blogs, but am anxious to start next fall helping others to do so!!
ReplyDeleteEnglish teacher is currently using with a lit class. They are using to get comments and posts from students. Their posts lead class discussion for the next day
ReplyDeleteI typically use Google Docs for literature circles that take place outside of the classroom. Blogging would be more efficient, because student identification would be easier and it would prevent students from deleting one another's comments.

ReplyDeleteOften, fertile classroom discussions are cut short due to time constraints. Blogs allow the discussion to continue after the bell rings. The internet gives us a feeling of pseudo-anonymity, so quiet students may feel more willing to contribute online, but the anonymity makes bullying easier, as well. - Rob Reinhart

ReplyDeleteI think blogging can be very beneficial for students. they can share their ideas with others in a less stressful way than speaking in class. more kids may feel open to sharing their thoughts in this way. Thanks! Terri Finley

Students could use blogging as a way for teachers to assess learning throughout the semester. The commenting system would provide feedback from other students as well as the teacher.
ReplyDeleteI'm no longer in the classroom but when I was I taught social studies. In the class I could pull up a particular article or discussion point regarding government policies and allow students to comment. Robert Johnson

ReplyDeleteI would use it to get feedback from students on the novels we are reading in Fusion reading class or to make (hopefully) constructive comments on others' written work.
